Well happy "Worship Wednesday" everyone! I hope y'all are having a great week so far. My heart is exploding with happiness right now because my home course finally opened the 18 hole course! Eek! What is one thing you are grateful for today?
It is always good to take a step back and look at the mini blessings God has given us. There are more than you think ;)
This Bible study will come from the Opening Your Heart series, titled "Steadfast."
Romans 8:31 "What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?"
This verse really hits home. Everyone interprets verses differently, but here are my thoughts on it. If we are trying our best to live out God's will for us and trying to always do the right thing, why should we care what others think of us?
Only God's opinion of us matters. So many of us get caught up in what others think.
Do you ever think of these questions/statements?
"Do they like me?"
"I am too scared to talk about God in front of others because I fear what they will think"
"Are people looking at me funny? Are they judging my outfit?"
"Ugh everyone is going to think I'm a fool"
"I wonder what people are thinking of me now"
The list could go on and on...
I want all of you to know that ONLY God's opinion of you matters. If your actions and words are pleasing to God, then does it matter if someone is against you? Do not try and impress others. You will never satisfy every person in your life. There will always be someone who knocks you down, either because they are envious of you or they do not have God as the focal point in their life. Caring what others think will really hurt your confidence. You are not what others think you are. You are what God KNOWS you are. Caring about the thoughts of others stops you from doing God's will. The only person we should be trying to please is God. And if we are pleasing God and carrying out His will for us, how can people be against us?
I am also trying to work on this. Normally I could care less what others think of me, but I do care when it comes to golf. If I have a bad round or bad tournament it is hard for me to not think "What are people going to think of me because I shot that? I hope people do not question/laugh at my dream of becoming pro because of that bad tournament." Yes, I have thought that before...My thought process has recently changed. I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason, and that is now what I think if I had a bad tournament. I tell myself "Although I don't understand why this happened, it happened for a reason and I know God has a plan for me. I trust you Lord." Some people have to learn the hard way and go through rough times to excel later in life. The rough times are what makes you stronger.
I hope this helps!!!
And remember...ONLY GOD'S OPINION OF YOU MATTERS <3
Be yourself and go spread some light and positivity to the world!
Stay blessed,
Cailyn
